How to do cold shower

Most people, when it comes to cold showers, leave half of the benefits on the table.

This is most peoples experience of getting into a cold shower:

— — — — —

(Standing next to the water flowing, but you can’t just nudge yourself in.)

(After 30 seconds of contemplating life you get in.)

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah”

(Tenses up)

“When is it done?”

(Gets out after 1 minute, counting every second)

(Relaxes)

— — — — —

This is not what to do.

Understand this:

You are the one tensing up in the shower, not the cold tensing up you.

Next time when you get into a cold shower, get in with no resistance.

Feel the pain of the cold and just relax as deeply as you can.

Notice how some of your body parts tense up,

And just un-tense,relax them and stay calm.

I bet, you are probably tensing some random body part, right now.

Can you see how staying calm under the stress and pain of a cold shower can help you in life?

It’ll make you develop huge stress tolerance.

Imagine you could stay calm in every social setting

you hold nothing back and you’re just there relaxed.

The next thing is to breathe fully.

Breathe slowly all the way into your stomach and use your diaphragm.

Your diaphragm is attached to the vagus nerve and the vagus nerve

calms you down and deactivates your flight or flight system, which’ll

decrease your stress and help you when you’re in the cold shower.

Another thing to do is, allow your mind to wonder.

I find this very helpful because it distracts you.

This is what you do next time:

— — —

“Ok, I’m gonna go in.”

(Gets into the cold, with no resistance, not tensing up and breathing fully)

(Lets his mind wonder)

“I got to text that person. Oh shoot it’s been 5 minutes, I was only gonna do 3 minutes.”

(Gets out and experiences all the benefits)

— — — —

When you do cold showers like this,

it is so much easier to get in and to get out.

How to stay consistent with cold showers

There is one simple method ,that won’t take you long to set-up, and

that is a habit tracker.

I have made an entire full guide already on how to create one

(đź’Ş Full guide:Make your own HABIT TRACKER to become more productive đź“ť),

but I’ll briefly describe it to you.

It’s a sheet of paper, that you hang on your wall, and you have to tick if you did the habit, or not.

I have been taking cold shower since last August and I have had no problem staying consistent because of my habit tracker.

Benefits

Action Step:Imagine jumping into a cold lake, or stepping into the cold shower.

Even just thinking about it excites you.

It makes you feel alive and excited.

I have never took drugs(and I never will), but I assume it is the same feeling you get when you get out of a cold shower.

These are the benefits of cold showers and why you should do them:

  • Increase testosterone, by around 20%
  • Motivation
  • Kills stress
  • Energy
  • better sleep
  • live longer
  • Improves insulin sensitivity
  • improved immune system
  • Helps muscle soreness
  • Improves weight loss
  • etc.

📔Note: Don’t take a cold shower after a workout, it stops muscle growth.
