Why Complaints are GOOD for your business in less than 500 Words

When people hear people complaining about their business the first thing that may come to mind is that the person is being negative or working to destroy something but here are some reasons why it is always good to get feedback from clients even when that feedback is negative and why complaining may actual be a good thing for your business and mine “if you decide to listen”….

Never reject negative feedback for your business because people are trying to tell you something…

Listen to your customers and don’t be so quick to defend something that may be wrong regardless of how well you believe you or your employees may appear, because there just might be that one little thing that you can’t see that everyone else does which draws away clients from your business.

You cant hear what people are saying because you are in the wrong spot…

A great example of this is let’s say viewing the world’s tallest building, Burj Kahlifa in Dubai. When people stand outside and view the building they can see all the beauty and amazement and what all the fuss is about. There are also some people who may notice flaws or point out valid reasons why they don’t care for the building. On the other hand, if you are working inside the building you cannot see the beauty of the building, nor it’s flaws because you are inside. The same goes for employers, business owners, and managers who work from the inside and only see their positions and employees from one point, yet, people from the outside looking in may see things differently, or see what you cannot, so take the time to listen.

Nothing is ever personal…

That old saying “It’s just business, it’s not personal” is a statement that is not easy to digest but the truth is that in the world of business, when you begin to take things personal you have forgotten about the business aspects and made the complaint about YOU, and it’s never really about you, remove yourself from the situation.

Humble yourself, you just might learn something…

That’s right, you don’t know everything so don’t walk around like you do. The point is to work toward learning something daily and one way of doing that is through other people so simply shut-up sometimes, you don’t know everything.

Negative feedback helps your business grow….

Although we know that listening to people gripe about what may be wrong can be a drag but the truth of the matter is that negative feedback actually helps you to understand your clients needs, wants, or what they don’t want which in turn work toward making your business stronger. There isn’t a need to set-up a 1–800-COMAPLINT line, just make sure to listen…because you have those people who will leave and never tell you what the problem was, so simply appreciate those people who take the time to express them to you.
