I’d point out that Satoshi considered doing something like this, but ultimately decided against it as Bitcoin was already a highly experimental platform with enough attack vectors as it was, without the introduction of many more op codes or even being Turing complete. Also, the notion of state is much more important in practice than the Turing completeness, and Vitalik has said as much himself. We focus *way* too much on the “expressive scripting language” and not nearly enough on the importance of state in a “smart contract” (a term for another discussion).
