Project 365: Day 157 — Strange Things Happen
Strange things happen when life throws a curve ball at people.
People who take pride in mastering the art of doing nothing and looking good try their best to keep themselves busy. Noise helps fill up the quiet. The sound of silence is ear piercing on most days.
Sometimes they go to sleep hoping they don’t wake up, not in a bad way, just that most of the time they spend awake is a constant reminder of how things used to be. That is if they get any sleep at all… Mostly, it’s lying in bed staring at the fan waiting to fall asleep.
They dread holidays. It means planning the entire day so there’s no time to think. Or rather, overthink.
They don’t cry. Even the ones who have no trouble letting the waterworks roll normally. They know it has to come at some point but they just can’t get themselves to cry, because they’re afraid that once it begins, they won’t be able to stop.
They know it will all be okay eventually. But they also know that in order to rise from the ashes, they must burn first. And that is the difficult part. Particularly, when they thought they just left a burning building.
