Thanks for the questions! Most of the hiring process is based on the open source project. We follow up with a quick call in case there are gaps in what’s demonstrated in the open source contribution and the concepts required on the job.
If the candidate has an extensive open source portfolio we typically don’t ask for a new contribution. If the work is, as you pointed out, not current enough or its completely unrelated to the job then we ask for a new contribution from the candidate.
