Requesting stories & not accepting emails
Wouldn’t it make more sense if —
When I go to request a story, the interaction currently goes like:
Scroll down to bottom of story > Click “…” > Click “Request story” > Compose personal email or use template > Click “Send Email”
Probably one times out of four, I write a personalized email requesting a story, going through all the above steps, only to get a message saying the user has chosen not to receive emails.
Shouldn’t that “Emails disallowed” message appear earlier in the chain, circumventing steps I’m not allowed to take anyway?
Scroll down to bottom of story > Click “…” > Click “Request story” > Emails disallowed message
Then I would be prevented from wasting time writing a personalized message that can’t be sent. Don’t let me waste time doing actions I’m not allowed to do anyway!
Also, why is it a requirement that a user has to be able to allow emails in order to be able to receive a request for a story? Why can’t that be done through in-product notifications also, like nearly everything else?
