The thing that has been bugging me out increasingly is the knock-on effects (been trying to use that in a sentence for the past few days!) of combining the increasingly unpredictable weather patterns associated with Climate Change and the unforeseeable consequences of releasing living modified organisms* into the wild. I don’t see any other possible outcome from that approach than the triggering of catastrophic alterations in the biodiversity of Earth’s ecosystems.
*I’m switching over to this LMO language (instead of GMO, GM, or GE) as inspired by the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, because I feel that the definition is simultaneously clearer and more explicitly linked to a framework of international jurisprudence.
