Why I’m voting for Hillary Clinton

Because I think she’d do a pretty good job at being President of the United States.

That’s it. There isn’t anything else I need to say or you need to read, because the right to vote isn’t saddled with an obligation to justify that vote to every one of your co-citizens.

And if you don’t want to vote for Hillary Clinton, that’s cool. I’m going to make no attempt to shame you into changing your opinion, and you shouldn’t shame me into changing mine. It’s not going to work. At best, you and the people who already agree with you might get a few extra Facebook likes out of it.

All I ask is that you spend the next three months looking at your options with an open mind and a willingness to change it (Hey, maybe in October I’ll decide to vote for somebody else! Maybe I’ll vote for nobody!). Read, investigate, question, listen, investigate more. Understand the vote you’re giving and what it means to give it. And if you decide it should be for someone who isn’t the person that I’m giving my vote to, we can still be friends.

That’s the United States I want to keep living in.
