Among the women I work with, nearly all of the pregnancies are unplanned (as are about 40% of pregnancies in the general population). But an unplanned pregnancy isn’t necessarily an undesired one, and what to do when facing an unplanned pregnancy is a deeply personal decision and not one that society at large has any business being involved in. I’m all for making it easier and more affordable for women to access birth control (especially long term reversible methods), but I’m not about to tell any woman what choice she should or shouldn’t make regardless of her circumstances.
