Let’s Throw Some Money at Our Problems: July 2016 Check-In
The Billfold

Yay Nicole! Congratulations!

My goal is to save $25K in living expenses for medical school by January 2017.

June 2016: $17,550

July 2016: $19,328

I did not actually save almost $2,000 in July — something got off with my math, since I was using this account to store my living expenses for the past school year and was reporting a theoretical savings balance. Now I’m reporting the actual balance since school is done, and I’m pleasantly surprised to find it’s higher than I expected. However, I will also be spending a lot out of this account for application fees and interviews.

Also, I started a travel savings account. Not sure what my goal should be — maybe $2,000?

July 2016: $150

AND I opened a 401K account at my new job this month. It was a good month for my finances!
