What these so-called “Critics” got wrong about The Emoji Movie
Now first I want to say that I love movies. I watch a lot of them and probably have seen them all. I may not be a professional so-called “critic,” but I’ve been around the block enough to know what I’m talking about. Coming into The Emoji Movie, I thought I couldn’t be wowed. Sure the trailer was hilarious and it was a fresh, unique concept, but it felt impossible to live up to all the hype.
Boy was I wrong.
This is where I agree with the so-called “critics” (if you can even call them that). It was a laugh riot from start to finish, and hey, if I happened to learn a little along the way, why not? With strong memorable characters such as Gene, Poop, and Alex, I’m highly anticipating the expansion of the full EU (Emoji Universe). Sure it’s a kid’s movie, but there’s plenty of yuks for the whole family. As the poop emoji says, “Just doing my duty,” us adults can laugh along while all the kids in the theater say aloud, “I don’t get that joke.” I came to laugh, and I sure as heck did, but I didn’t expect to cry. The dramatic pathos evoked by the parallel storytelling of the emojis and the humans brought out feelings I thought I had long repressed. But you all know this. You’ve seen the movie and read all the great reviews.
Now at this point you’re probably saying to yourself, “I thought this guy said he disagreed with these so-called ‘critics,’ if I can even call them that.” Alright alright. I hear ya. Onto the good stuff (and boy is there a lot of it).
What all these so-called “critics” are missing is this:
The Emoji Movie is the first true film of the Trump Era.
The film follows Gene, a ‘Meh’ emoji, who struggles to conform to what society prescribes for him. Through a non-stop adventure the other emojis learn to accept that sometimes being yourself is better than following the crowd.
Hmm. Someone who’s vocal about their ideas that the lame-stream media is telling to be quiet… Remind you of anyone?
Yup. Gene here is a veritable stand in for the Donald himself. This film is text book allegory and none more clear than our hero. He’s a man with a plan who’s not afraid of what the PC police say about him. These PC police chase Gene the whole movie, led by a blonde haired woman who thinks she knows everything. (Just think about it, I’ll wait.)
You guessed it. It’s crooked Hillary.
Look, what on the surface seems like a safe kid’s movie really is a horror film depicting the world liberals want. Anyone who thinks differently is immediately shunned and reprogrammed.
I want to make a brief aside here to commend TJ Miller for his performance as Gene. He has to cover the gamut of emotions seconds apart. Plus the motion capture tech looked really good. I smell an oscar (or two).
Now either these so-called “critics”, if I dare call them that, are too dumb to notice it or are getting paid off by you know whom (Barrack Hussein Obama). Either way they’re missing the lesson that each and every child should be legally mandated to learn.
Without going into spoilers, the movie ends with a montage looking back at all the memories we made over this long, 86 minute run. You remember the good times, the bad times, and everything in between. It reminds us that with all the prejudice white men go through these days, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
As we watch the credits slowly approach, all of our favorite emojis dance to the Pitbull/Ne-Yo club banger Time of our Lives, we remember that if we could have a society where we got rid of these so-called “critics,” the PC police, and even intellectuals as a whole, the world would be a much better place.
It’s the first film that get’s Trump’s America and hopefully won’t be the last. For now I’ll leave you with these wise words spoken by Gene: “#TRUTH.”
