Why the move?
Simply put, we align closer with Solana’s roadmap, values, and culture. We remain bullish on Base as a L2, however we believe our chances for product-market-fit and mainstream adoption is better served on Solana.
Can I still use Time.fun on Base?
Of course! While we work to deploy on Solana, you’re still able to use this version of Time.fun on Base. You can still purchase and redeem minutes to access your favorite creators throughout the migration process.
How do I migrate to Solana?
Users and/or creators will need to sign up again post-migration. The sign-up process will be similar to how it currently works, however, everything from a tokenization perspective will start from ‘0’, meaning new time tokenizations, minutes, and smart contracts, and features.
We understand this move is not ideal for users, and we apologize for the inconvenience, but we believe this sets us in a better spot to become a true mainstream product.
What does this mean for my current minutes?
No one who currently holds minutes will lose any funds due to this migration. We’ve taken a snapshot today of all current balances and trades, and will be refunding all users who end up with a negative P/L once they’ve sold their minutes.
This means if you are currently holding minutes of a creator’s time up until this point, you are free to sell and we’ll process a refund for the delta in your P/L.
If you purchase minutes any time after this announcement, you will not be refunded for lost P/L on those purchases. You are welcome to use those minutes to redeem access with a creator.
If you have already performed and closed trades on the platform before this announcement, we will not refund you based on that P/L.
Please stay tuned for more announcements on the refund process. It is rare for web3 projects to give out refunds, and we want to ensure that we operate with the highest levels of integrity during this migration process. We look forward to building together on Solana.
Time.fun points program
We will be temporarily pausing the points and leaderboard program while we work to release Time.fun on Solana. The last points drop will occur this Friday based on activity from October 25–31 (before this announcement). Our revamped program will resume once we’ve migrated to Solana.
A sincere thank you to our users & creators
We’d like to thank every user and creator who has signed up to our platform and used it to connect with each other. While this migration does create a few hurdles, we firmly believe that this will set us up on a path to success over the long-term and are glad that we are able to do this in a way that doesn’t have any negative financial implications for our users.
We can’t wait to show you the new & improved version of Time.fun on Solana.
