Atrocious advice, for several reasons:

  1. A lot of post-hoc, survivor bias that goes unaccounted for. People don’t consider family ties as powerful influences that can buffer you from severe consequences of bad decisions. So this advice may be bad but ‘self-made billionaires’ have other benefits that enable them to weather these bad decisions
  2. Meetings are where you collaborate with your colleagues, respect their perspective, and try to work together towards a common goal. Eliminating meetings means the person who is already strongest and richest gets to dictate what they want everyone to work on in a top-down manner. Get rid of meetings and you get rid of your ability to grow your own influence
  3. People shouldn’t want to be like billionaires just like human cells shouldn’t want to be like cancer cells. Learn how to function, be happy, and flourish in the environment you’re in. Don’t make a virtue of metastasizing.
