Star Wars-Battlefront Classic Collection Unveiled

Unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct on February 21, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection brings both the original Star Wars: Battlefront and its sequel together in a single package. Crafted by Pandemic (RIP), these classic third-person shooters mirrored the gameplay of EA’s Battlefield series, featuring expansive maps, vehicles, and mission objectives.

It’s crucial to note that these aren’t the Dice-developed, EA-published Star Wars: Battlefront titles from 2015 and 2017; these are the OG franchise entries originally released on PS2, Xbox, and PC.

For the very first time, the original Battlefront games are making their way to Nintendo consoles, marking a historic moment in gaming. With Aspyr at the helm of porting, expect all DLC and bonus content to be fully integrated, with added support for Steam Deck!

Exciting news, folks! Delightfully, the gaming experience will encompass single-player adventures, faithfully retaining all the original modes, campaigns, and an added bonus of offline split-screen support for two players. Brace yourselves for those late-night gaming marathons with your best friend, battling it out in epic Galactic Conquest showdowns!

Star Wars-Battlefront Classic Collection Bounce and New Features

For the first time ever, Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto, previously exclusive to Xbox, will now be playable on PlayStation. Joining the ranks of iconic heroes and villains like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Yoda, and Han Solo, they can be strategically utilized by players for a limited time in battle.

Notably, these formidable characters are also featured in Hero Assault, a mode dedicated to intense clashes between powerful figures.

Excitingly, Aspyr has officially announced the expansion of this mode, once confined to Tatooine, to now include all ground maps in Battlefront II. This fantastic news extends to encompass all bonus and DLC maps, promising an even more immersive gaming experience.

Regrettably, Aspyr has not confirmed the inclusion of crossplay, only verifying cross-gen support (PS5 vs PS4 / Xbox Series X/S vs Xbox One). Optimistically, crossplay might be added as an option.

Additionally, my fingers are crossed for 60FPS or higher support on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Imagine the thrill of taking down Ewoks and Stormtroopers at a blazing 120FPS!

On March 14, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will be released on the Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC. It will retail for a special price of $35.01.

As a bonus, if you happen to own the original Battlefront or Battlefront II on Xbox or Steam, snag a 20% discount by pre-ordering these revamped classics. May the discounts be with you!
