Great article, Per Axbom. On point 4 (which I love), does the issue arise when people reduce the entire vocation of UX to usability alone?
Sometimes, the interaction (especially a skill-based one) will not be easy for a novice user… no matter what you do. It’s a balancing act and what is sacrificed in usability can be compensated for through attention to other areas.
For example, enhancing the value of the pay-off gained for learning the skill or building a reward system into the learning curve.
