These Things Are Required Daily
Let’s keep it short and simple today. These things are required daily to navigate life in today’s unique world.
Forgiveness
You will have to forgive people every day for their sins, injustices, betrayals, etc. against you. Some things may be harder to forgive than others, but forgiving them is not optional.
Well, it is but it isn’t. In other words, you can use your free will to choose not to forgive, but that choice will severely hinder your spiritual growth. Unforgiveness is a sin, and committing sins without confessing them will leave you vulnerable to certain … um … “airborne influences.” Been there. Experienced that.
The “Lord’s prayer” is a daily prayer. Thus, every part of it needs to be repeated daily. Pay close attention to the “as we forgive our debtors” part. Want the modern version? How about “as we forgive those who trespass against us”?
Thankfulness
Sometimes being thankful for what you have is challenging. It can get particularly tough when other people try to dictate what you should have or how you should live according to their ideals or beliefs.
Keep your eyes on the Word. Short and sweet. Everything you truly need will be provided. You might not get it if you don’t need it.
If being thankful for painful or uncomfortable trials and tribulations gets tough, just remember that they are meant to strengthen you.
Prayer
Not a single day can go by without communication and meditation. “Pray without ceasing” means just that. Skipping it will result in weakness.
No one goes to war without their armor or weaponry. Well, you’re in a war every day, whether you want to be in it or not. You can’t run away from it, hide, or ignore it and hope it will just stop or go away.
Suit up and carry your spiritual sword. Don’t be afraid to swing it because your enemies will definitely swing theirs.
Renewing of the Mind
The enemy will try to rob you of your identity, and you will be called every name except a child of God. Listen only to the name the Almighty calls you by, and don’t look to man for approval or acceptance.
The enemy will also try to rob you of your peace and joy. These attempts will be futile once you realize your peace is internal, and the Almighty has all the joy you need.
Slaying of the Flesh
The flesh is in constant opposition with the Spirit. So, there will be times when thoughts appear in your mind and distractions try to take you out of heavenly places. You are still human, so it will happen.
You will be tempted, enticed, and even encouraged to do various non-beneficial things. Sure, you can do non-beneficial things, but you might not enjoy the aftermath. It’s much more useful to slay the thoughts or temptations or decide against doing XYZ activity.
