Have you heard the term “stranded assets?” We have already discovered all the oil we will ever need. U.S. fossil fuel consumption is decreasing and the world will be following suit.
Oil Companies while not bankrupt need to be winding down or remaking themselves. Fossil fuels will not be going away but they will be a much smaller share of our economy.
You story is based on false premises. “the USA produces around 9 Million barrels of oil a day, but uses 0ver 19MBd.” The U.S.A. does not use 19MBd we export 10 MBd of oil equivalents either as raw crude, coal, and natural gas or as Aviation fuel, Gasoline, Fertilizer and Industrial Chemicals.
The EROEI of Wind and Solar is projected to increase to greater than 50.
Society does have some challenges but you are not on the right thread.
