I know what you mean about the system being flawed and I know the system could be better.
The system is based on the concept that it is better to free one hundred criminals than to imprison a single innocent person. Even with that, hundreds of innocent people have been sent to prison.
People have unrealistic expectations of what the justice system can achieve.
The thing that would improve the system the most is if juries would better informed, knowledgeable and moral. When we and our peers are bigoted, biased, ignorant and sometimes even evil how can we expect justice from our juries.
That said, consider the evidence they would be presented, does it meet the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt? It only takes a single juror who’s interpretation of reasonable is unreasonable to prevent a verdict.
