I read you whole story but you should have been able to make your point more concisely. Of course I already understood your point before you wrote this story and my behavior is not at all like those your story is about. I probably am not typical. How many times can you be lured by a click bait title and still go back for more.
Why didn’t you just say that we should curate our own feed and not leave it to others.
There are many reasons to consume news and entertainment and you don’t seem to acknowledge any of them. FYI YouTube is not just entertainment, I rarely use it by one of my close friends uses it for how too on electronic device repair techniques and I have watched it out of curiosity to see how some of my hobby practices match YouTube advice. I would have a hard time duplicating the quality of their videos but my techniques are generally superior to those I see. Sort of validates the saying “those that can’t do teach.” There are some good collaborations between technical experts and good videographers.
Facebook and Newsfeed. I am on Facebook, I don’t know what is a Newsfeed. I read posts made by my friends and only six of my friends are not people, Circe de Solei, Michoud Assembly Facility, Rockets are Cool, Orbital ATK, SpaceX and Cast Bullets. Is this my Newsfeed? I think this is my Facebook Home, I don’t have a clue about Newsfeed. I love medium and I have loved forums in Newsgroups like rec.models.rc or .rockets or the RC forum.
I read the news not because I can or will do much about it but it can’t hurt to have an idea about what is going on locally, nationally, economically, in the market and around the world.
I read the news on the internet because I hate talking heads. Mostly I dislike video unless the pictures are central to the story. Talk is not the same as the written word. I can study text, audio not so much.
Of course I criticized you for not being concise and here I go with my logorrhea.
