I think the problem is some people don’t know when to keep their thoughts to themselves.
Regarding your comment “All Americans deserve quality healthcare regardless of employment and economic status”, I agree and would amplify that “Everyone on the Planet deserves quality healthcare.” That leaves undefined who is responsible for paying for it and who will make sure that those providing that healthcare are properly compensated but not unfairly enriched.
In a best value proposition, most of an increase in funding for healthcare would go to providing better sanitation, clean water and elementary care to persons in the less developed world. That would provide the greatest benefit for the dollars. For the price of extending the life of one American cancer patient for a decade we could add decades to the lives of tens or hundreds of Africans. So are you an American Nationalist, do you believe America First?
Is one old American worth ten young Africans?
I am being totally unfair, I know. I know it is off topic and not fair to pick on you after you wrote such a nice and valuable story. I read you suffer from depression and have limited resources to write stories so please don’t waste effort to respond to me on this thread. I only meant to stimulate thinking not start an argument. If you feel incline for a discussion I would entertain one. No harsh words or name calling, just an exchange of ideas.
I am coming round to supporting single payer. I dislike Federal Social Programs but ….. the Insurance Companies are so broken and ineffective and corrupt, I think the Federal Government could (maybe) do a better job. It will line the pockets of Doctors, Medical Supply Companies, and Pharmaceutical companies who will all line the pockets of Politicians.
Everybody deserves Quality Healthcare, those with the Money and Power should be using that to move us close to giving everyone what they deserve. It does not seem to be a priority with those who have Money and Power but some of them are using their money where it can do the most good, Africa.
