Thankfully the fringe groups mentioned are just that and have small memberships. I am not aware of an official “alt.left” but maybe someone has legitimized that name. The Antifa is real and again real small. There are some radical Greens as well. The “alt.right”, NeoNAZI’s, White Supremacist, Skin Heads and White Nationalist when they unite can be larger than what would strictly be fringe.
Yes, Trump emboldens them. Not really so much by his rhetoric but by the mere fact that he overcame the party’s elitist selected candidates. I think they see the Trump presidency as a once in a lifetime opportunity. The party is unlikely to lose control of the nomination process so badly again.
The “alt.right”, NeoNAZI’s, White Supremacist, Skin Heads and White Nationalist can work together because they don’t have deep differences just different leaders, they can unite. I don’t think the can reach critical mass.
The “alt.left” whatever that is probably can’t unite except to counter demonstrate against the “alt.right.” Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ, Women’s Rights, SJW, Antifa, Greens, Civil Rights groups, don’t seem to have a uniting message except being Anti-NAZI.
They did seem to unite a bit when we had the Occupy Movement but that fizzled unless something in going on under my radar.
