UBI today but the rest of what you talked about, barely in my lifetime. I don’t see the capitalist financing all the machines to replace us. Sadly unless somebody works it is not going to get done. The robots are not building robots without human help. Even the best automatons are either hyper-specialized or they are horribly clunky. You know that not all exponential curves are as steep as you drew. It is hard to say where we are on the hockey stick. I wonder how many things the robots will not think to do because it never occurred to them it was a thing to be done.
Yes, jobs, lots of them will be gone but who will do the jobs that the robots don’t and nobody wants to do. We don’t have robots picking up my trash but because the process is more automated I am expected to do more to make it easier for the machine. When we got internet at work we had to start making our own travel arrangements. I don’t like the way this is going, to make it so the robots can do human jobs the customer has to contribute more effort into the process that has become dehumanized. I so want blockbuster back. Redbox just isn’t as good an experience. Each time cheaper beats better we all suffer. I know, Redbox is dead or will be. Pay per view will eventually kill them.
Yes, UBI, UBI, UBI but I still want my hair cut by a person and I want to buy my groceries at a store not have them delivered.
