While this is true “Once fossil fuel is used, it is gone for good. Therefore in this context the way in which it is used is irrelevant - used up forever.” I don’t believe that is the way it will play out. We will stop search as hard for oil and leave a lot of it in the ground. Oil will become uncompetitive/unattractive compared with other energy sources, just like coal has become today. So with all the stranded Oil, Gas, and Coal, if for some application Oil, Gas, and Coal become attractive in the future or are needed for specific applications it will be there but at a price much higher than today.
