You can count me as a Bernie supporter who did his time in government: 3 years as a senior official at Treasury and FHFA (plus the Navy many years ago).
Your argument is a thoughtful and valuable contribution to the debate. But what it assumes is that Obama wanted to fix how the federal bureaucracy runs, and what its goals were. That is highly questionable; as the techies say, it seems more like a feature than a bug. Exhibit A from financial regulation: Lanny Breuer, a Presidential nominee. Personnel is policy!
At least in the financial world, the Obama campaign turned out to be an enormous bait and switch. Because of the record Bernie has built over the years, I support him not because I didn’t give six years of my life to this government, but because I did.
