“ You do not really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother. ” — Albert Einstein

Very strong words there from Albert Einstein.

But in some sense… it’s the truth.

I have heard stories of employers asking their interviewees to explain a technical concept so that their grandmothers’ could understand.

I was once asked something like this before.

And I can tell you, it is no easy feat if you haven’t gave it much thought before.

But you know what?

Yes, it is difficult to explain technical concepts to non-technical folks.

But that doesn’t take away the fact that these non-technical people could also be your bosses, your CEO, your CRO or someone who is a decision maker.

Difficult. Yes.

Necessary? Most definitely.

Being in the data science industry has made me realized how important this skill is.
