PEOPLE DON’T CARE ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU KNOW.

🤔

Until a critical moment.

Its a moment that defines a relationship.

It’s the moment when they know that you actually care.

The single most important thing in my life for the past few years has been building a relationship with my customers through genuine, positive communication. We want to show clients, through consistently serving, that we care about them.

I had one of those moments on Wednesday, September 14. One of my merchants, who is an immigrant from Honduras that I recently started doing business with, miscommunicated with me. We had plans to meet at their family business, a Hispanic supermarket in Houma, Louisiana- about a 2.3 hour drive from my house in Lafayette.

When I arrived at the business, it was closed.

“Hey Karla, where are you?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m at the United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) in New Orleans.”
“No problem, do you have the paperwork?”
“Yeah, I have the paperwork. Can you come here?”
“ Send me the address, I’m on my way.”

We got to the Hyatt Regency Center in New Orleans, downtown next to the Superdome where the Saints play, and I ran upstairs to the 18th floor to USCIS and met Karla.

That’s when my world stopped.

I saw the most beautiful 6-year-old girl there with here, her niece (she has cerebral palsy).

Anybody who knows me knows that I have a special place in my heart for those that have cerebral palsy. My best friend, Sicily, has it, and has been battling with living with it all her life.

I understand the toll that it takes on families, having to take care of their loved ones, having to go through surgeries, doctor visits, medical emergencies, etc.

So I stopped my day and spent time with her.

We took this picture when I left.

It’s in moments like this that I go from being a businessman, to a friend.

Before being a businessman, I am your friend. One of our companies themes is “Integrity Before Profit”, and I take great pride in that.

Below is the moment:

We are surrounded in a world where everybody is doing their absolute best to exploit others for monetary gain. How much money can you bring me?

One of the ways that we are revolutionizing the industry is that, by no easy means, we are changing the way that we relate to our customers. Simply put, the reason why we have been so successful is because, we show customers that WE CARE. It’s not about money for us, and never has been. It’s about making a positive impact on lives, everyday.

The reason why I work long nights, drive hundreds of miles, and sacrifice resources, is because we want to leave a legacy in the business world: we’re doing that through goodness and empathy.

I am thankful that I have the liberty, not only to provide an excellent product and service, but to be a friend to my clients- because at the end of the day, they don’t care about how much I know, they just want to know how much I care.

At the end of the day, all we have is our family, right? So what really matters? Relationships matter. Let’s build an empire through radiant positivity in business relationships.
