It wasn't long ago programming was seen by many as an odd hobby for nerds, geeks secluded away tinkering with computers in their mom's basements. For many, the thought of learning to code still sounds complex, and the barrier to entry is constantly been raised due to the wide range of obscure concepts, technical jargon, and text that — seems cryptic at first sight.

For some, coding is still mysterious and primarily reserved for the highly intellectual, but many may not realize this couldn't be further from the truth. Just like all things nothing, everything is more straightforward with deliberate practice and application. The premise of this piece is to take you down the path I took and why I think it's worthwhile to contemplate at least the notion of teaching your kids or future kids about code. As parents, we are enablers for our kids to be the best versions of themselves.
