Why limit curation to open-source content? The reality is that, with exceptions, proprietary content is superior to open-source content. Proprietary content has been written, curated, and edited by professionals. I propose pushing publishers to allow teachers/schools to select the content that meets their needs and pay for that alone. Curated materials that take advantage of the best of self-created, OER, and proprietary content will be superior.
