Priced at 80 PHP, Garlic Cheddar fries is made with McDonald’s iconic fries drizzled with garlic aioli and cheddar relish.

As enticing as their advetisement was, this product is a living proof of the saying, “looks can be deceiving”.

Of course, I have no problem with their World Famous fries, it’s perfect. But the sauce, oh god, the sauce! It tasted more like mayonaisse than “garlic aioli and cheddar relish". There was a hint of garlic but the taste of mayonnaise was really overpowering everything, which made the cheese feel and taste non-existent.

Three bites into it, and you’ll feel sick of the fries. I couldn’t even bring myself to finish the whole thing because I got sick of the it — yes, even the World Famous fries altogether because it was too bland. There was nothing to balance out the taste of mayonnaise. I even tried drinking soda to cleanse my palate but it was too much mayonnaise. Maybe, I’m being subjective here because I am not fond of its tangy taste, but if you market something as “garlic cheddar" and it tasted entirely different from the advert, then isn’t that false advertising?

If I knew better, I could have just bought a Large-sized fries which is 3 PHP cheaper and dipped it in mayonnaise that we have at our fridge if I wanted to eat fries with mayonnaise.

It should have just been named as “Mayo fries" if that was what they were really aiming for.
