Adapting to life as a programmer
At a glance, being a programmer is a pretty cool thing and this is what attracted me to Andela at the start. My first information session with the Andela team was an interesting, I mean being told that I could get into the fellowship irrespective of what my coding skill was
The past one week was very challenging, having to learn a new concept every day before I could even grasp what I learn the day before. The self-learning clinic was organized in a way that every day you had to learn something new though it was more of building up to a bigger concept. With the pre-boot-camp project to complete and the daily challenges to submit, I knew I had to adjust my lifestyle. My approach changed to; learn something new at night so you are able to implement it in the challenges the next day. Of course, this came at a cost which was killing the nice relationship I had with my bed, at the start, it was not all that easy but the fact that I would be improving my skills by at least one percent kept me going.
Sometimes change is hard but once you adapt,it may lead to something awesome.Looking at how little I knew last week and how much I know now, I would actually give more of my sleeping time to learning new concepts. Often times I would be really tired but I can not sleep until I have figured out why my code is not working, but am happy this all paid off and am here now.
