The Moment of Truth Tonight

This need to live up to a high standard. It’s strong in me. I want to be a vegan. I want to meditate every day and teach the dharma. I want to give my time to those who need it, and my heart to the world, and my body to science when it’s all over.

But sometimes I just need to let go instead, eat popcorn covered in butter, maybe even have a Nathan’s hot dog and finish it off with a dark chocolate Snickers bar, sleep in, pay my bills late, knock back a gin & tonic, not do the dishes, leave my clothes in a pile and be stupid for a while.

The dance between these two states is what being human consists of. Holding the one in my heart, while putting my arms around the other.
Namaste, everyone.
