White people do not understand that we do not want racism to be true. They think it's a race card we play when we need a leg up.
In reality we don't report most of the racist things that happen because a- who has that kind of time to do uncompensated labor and b- we just don't want it to be true.
We're accused of playing the race card to confront situations we are hoping to be wrong about. Meanwhile being white is having a race card you can play your entire life without even pulling it from the deck.
