The Awakening of Ktulu
As the sun set on the horizon, Ktulu rose from the depths of the ocean, his massive tentacles writhing and thrashing about as he emerged from the shadowy depths. The ancient being had been dormant for centuries, but now he had been awakened by the reckless actions of man.
Furious at the intrusion upon his realm, Ktulu let out a deafening roar that echoed across the waves. With a mighty heave, he pulled himself onto land, his massive bulk shaking the earth as he came.
The people of the nearby village ran in terror as Ktulu loomed over them, his glowing eyes seeming to pierce their very souls. But Ktulu was not there to destroy, at least not yet. No, he had come to issue a warning.
“You have disturbed the natural order,”
Ktulu bellowed in a voice that shook the very foundations of the earth.
“You have polluted the waters and despoiled the land. But I offer you one chance to make amends. Cease your destruction and return to balance, or face my wrath.”
The people of the village fell to their knees, begging for mercy. And Ktulu, satisfied that his message had been delivered, retreated back to the ocean, his mighty tentacles leaving deep trenches in the earth as he went.
But the people knew that Ktulu would not rest until they had righted their wrongs. And so they set to work, cleaning the waters and tending to the land, hoping to earn the favor of the ancient being and avoid his terrible wrath.
