Thank you for sharing. Your story made me silent.

You are right; advice is often the last thing we need. And hearing, “you’ll be ok”, doesn’t cut it either.

There is a Dutch author; his name is Arthur Japin. He has a way with words that can touch me deeply. I’ve tried to translate a passage from his book Een schitterend gebrek:

“If there is one thing I can do, it is love. That may not sound like much, but I am proud of it. I learned it like a stray dog learns to swim because he was thrown in a burlap with the others in a steep and rapid river.

The one that made it against all the odds, that’s me.

With in my ears, the noise of those who did not make it, I had to learn to love something.

I didn’t go under
I made it to the other side
I feel love

Other people carry their sorrow in their heart.

Unseen it kills them from the inside. It was my rescue that I wear my pain on the outside, where no one can fail to see it.”

Thank you for your courage, for speaking your mind, for not giving up, for not losing your love for writing. Keep on writing, Mateja. ❤︎
