11 Emmy-Inspired Cocktails for Every Viewing Party

On Sunday, September 22, toast to the end of summer (Sept. 23) and the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards with Woodford Reserve, Tanteo Tequila, Crystal Head Vodka, Fernet-Branca, Slow & Low, Templeton Rye, Proper No. Twelve, Caffé Borghetti,Starward Whiskey, and Seagram’s Vodka.

Though “Stranger Things 3” missed the nomination period, be sure to cheer on — and cheers– your favorite television series with these award-winning aperitifs.

“Barry”

Bucha Berry Summer

Ingredients:

2 ounces of Seagram’s Extra Smooth

1/2 ounce of mixed berry syrup

top with kombucha (preferably strawberry lemonade kombucha)

Garnish with mixed berry pick

Method:

Add everything to a shaker except the kombucha

Shake then strain into a wine glass

Top with kombucha and garnish with a mixed berry pick

“Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”

Smoke, Mirrors and Colors

Ingredients:

1.5 ounces of Crystal Head Aurora

1 ounce of dry vermouth

½ ounce of mezcal

Method:

Add all ingredients to mixing glass; stir

Strain into a coupe glass

*This cocktail has dry ice: use with caution and do not ingest

“Bodyguard”

The Hot-Blooded Margarita

Ingredients:

2 oz. Tanteo Habanero Tequila

2 oz. Fresh Blood Orange juice

1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

¾ oz. Light Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)

Method:Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a salt-rimmed, ice-filled Highball glass. Garnish with a blood orange slice.

“Dead to Me”

Little Drop of Poison

1/4 oz Fernet-Branca

1 1/2 oz Templeton Rye

3/4 oz PX sherry

2 dashes of walnut bitters

1 dash of Peppercorn Tincture

“Game of Thrones”

The Dorthaquiri

Ingredients:

2 parts Strawberry Infused Rum

1 part Caffé Borghetti

1.5 parts cold-pressed espresso

.25 Cinnamon Syrup

Method: All ingredients in shaker and strain into glass and garnish with a mini biscotti.

“Killing Eve”

THE MAD MAC

Gavin McMonigle, Piss & Vinegar, Philadelphia

Ingredients:

2 oz. Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey

1 Part Mexican Coffee Liqueur

2 scoops Mint Chocolate ice cream

Method: Hard shake all ingredients in a tin with crushed ice. strain into 6 oz. Irish coffee glass and serve.

“Queer Eye”

Ingredients:

1 part Fernet-Branca

1 part Mango Juice

3/4 parts Lemon Juice

1/2 part Passion Fruit Syrup

1/2 part Agave Syrup

Muddled strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

“Saturday Night Live”

Night Cap

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz. Crystal Head Vodka

½ oz. premium coffee liqueur

1 freshly brewed espresso shot

Chocolate shaving or coffee beans

Method: Pour Crystal Head, coffee liqueur and espresso into a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously to create froth then strain into a martini glass. Garnish: Chocolate shavings or finely crushed coffee beans

“Schitt’s Creek”

Spice Up Your Life (created by Katie Gavitt at Everdene Bar in the Virgin Hotel, SF)

1 ½ oz. Slow and Low

½ oz. Mezcal-Infused with Thai chili

1 oz. honey

½ oz. Amaro

Pinch of cardamom

“Succession”

THE ROYS

Ingredients

2 oz. Starward Australian Whisky

¼ oz. Fino Sherry

¼ oz. Demerara Sugar

2 dashes Pimento Bitters

Glass: Rocks

Ice: 2x2 cube

Garnish: Orange Twist

Method:Add all ingredients except the bitters to a mixing glass, with ice and stir (approximately

40 revolutions). Strain over a large rock into a rocks glass and garnish.

“This Is Us”

Bedtime Milk Punch

Ingredients:

1 cup Woodford Reserve bourbon

2 cups cream

2 cups whole milk

¾ cup sifted powdered sugar

½ vanilla bean

Fresh grated nutmeg

Method: In a metal bowl over an ice bath, whisk sugar, cream, milk, and bourbon until nice and frothy. Add vanilla bean and strain through fine mesh strainer in to a pitcher. Place pitcher in freezer for 30 minutes to an hour stirring on occasion. Pour into glass and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
