Share A Drink With Him

Whether you’re taking dad out for a round of golf, or looking to complement your traditional grilling session, the bold VSOP expression (SRP $50) dares the palate with a powerful, complex taste for sipping on the rocks or in a variety of craft cocktails, such as the classic Sidecar, the infamous French 75, or a seasonal D’USSÉ Colada.

Ravenswood Old Hill Zinfandel 2015

Refined and reserved, yet assertive — are we talking wine or pop’s personality? This splurge bottle displays aromas of red fruit, dried flowers, anise, and bramble spice, with firm but very fine tannins, leading to a long enjoyable finish. And back to the “refined” part: this wine has terrific aging potential in dad’s cellar.

Ravenswood Belloni Zinfandel 2015

This pensive wine displays dried flowers and perfume with bramble spice and incredible depth of fruit. It has good weight and lively acid.

Martini & Rossi Prosecco DOC

Perfectly balanced and aromatic, MARTINI Prosecco is fresh and crisp with good citrus acidity and notes of apple, pear and fresh flowers. Invigorating and playful, this DOC classified prosecco is beautifully versatile and can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with main courses like lightly sauced chicken, pork or fish.

Beaulieu Vineyard 2014 Georges de Latour

Sourced from the vineyard’s landmark terroir on the famous Rutherford Bench, the 2014 vintage delivers flavors of briary black currant, cherry and cassis, with nuances of cedar, sandalwood and mocha, helped by 22 months of aging in new French oak for superior finesse.

2015 SIMI Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $26; available nationwide) is dark garnet in color with a ruby edge and fruit aromas of blackberry, plum, and black cherry. A glass of this Cab brings out the best in a simple grilled steak, or some earthy mushrooms. Its black fruit flavors of plum and black cherry and spicy, lifted mid-palate make this an incredibly food-friendly wine, and a great option for wine-loving dads and outdoor grilling season.

Casa Noble Joven

Casa Noble’s award winning Joven expression boasts notes of earthy rich cooked agave with sweet floral and tropical fruit notes makes the perfect gift for dad. At 102 proof alcohol, the flavor experience is more intense than your average tequila, yet the 6 week aging process brings forward notes of vanilla to add a smooth finish. Ideal for sipping or creating a craft cocktail to share with dad this Father’s Day.

Santa Teresa 1796

Santa Teresa 1796, the brand’s signature rum, falls neatly in line with the scotch lover’s bar cart — comprised of a blend ranging from 4 to 35 years in bourbon oak barrels and meant to be enjoyed neat, or with an ice cube, in much the same way that a good whiskey is.

Although traditionally known for its place in cocktails, more and more brown spirits lovers are delving deeper into the realm of rum, realizing that aged rum can also be a fantastic sipping spirit. Santa Teresa 1796, is no stranger to this. The family run business has been distilling and aging the spirit for five generations using their very own Solera method, creating and producing Venezuela’s oldest rum brand. The result: a smooth, dry, and balanced rum with notes of caramel, almond, and old oak.

Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2016

Guigal’s Côtes du Rhône Blanc both sets and steps outside the standard for the appellation and showcases one of the great secrets of the Guigal family: their specialization in the great white Rhone varieties. While only 2% of the Rhone’s production is white, a full 25% of Guigal’s production is white. This wine is both fresh and rich, with complex aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, pear, and kiwi, and a deep mineral streak. It is a beautiful, seamless wine that represents unbelievable value.

2015 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge

This wine is a gateway to luxury wine with an approachable price tag. Using the Northern Rhône’s signature varietal, Syrah, the Crozes-Hermitage evokes wonderful warm flavors of red and black fruit and the typical Syrah pepper, spice and savory notes. Pairs perfectly with red meats and cheese as you wind down during chilly spring nights.

Grey Goose by Quentin Monge

This summer, Grey Goose will celebrate the spirit of the French Riviera with the newest iteration of the brand’s annual Riviera bottle series. Designed by renowned illustrator and native son Quentin Monge, the limited-edition bottle captures the laissez-faire attitude of the Riviera and pays homage to the brand’s French heritage. The Grey Goose by Quentin Monge bottle (SRP $40) reflects Monge’s signature “stylishly whimsical” take on his home region, the scenic birthplace of many artists including Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and Andre Derain.

The bottle serves a reminder that the lighthearted and playful spirit of the French Riviera can be experienced anywhere in the world with dad and amazing cocktails.

Purity Vodka

While most leading vodka brands distill 3–5 times, Purity Vodka is distilled 34 times- making it the perfect spirit to highlight in a gift guide- it is elevated yet won’t break the bank. Purity Vodka is certified organic and gluten free so it will work for any man on Father’s Day. The attractive, diamond-inspired bottle will look great behind any home bar, at the office wet bar or anywhere in-between. SRP is $24.99- the perfect price point for a standalone gift for dad!

WhistlePig Rye Whiskey

Just launched last month, this is the next step in achieving WhistlePig’s Triple Terroir vision of whiskey made from rye grown on their farm, proofed with water from their well, and aged in Vermont oak barrels made from wood harvested from their farm and the surrounding area. The new marque retails for $73.00 and is a perfect gift for Whiskey-loving dads.

Riedel & Nachtmann

Dads are so tough to shop for, and with no new Bruce Springsteen book this year, the remaining “go-to” options seem to be a necktie or shaving kit. Instead, Riedel & Nachtmann offer a few items our spirits-sipping, cocktail-mixing dads can show off with pride.

Maybe dad prefers a light and refreshing Tom Collins after wrestling with the lawnmower, the toddler, or the night’s dishes. Or maybe dad has expressed an ever-growing passion for mixology. The stemless, specially-shaped Riedel O Gin Glass is the perfect pick for every cocktail-craving dad whether his default setting is G&T, Gin Fizz, or Singapore Sling. It’s a can’t-go-wrong gift for Father’s Day that will deliver a new element of style to drinks he already loves to make. ($49.90/set of 4)

For the dad who still collects vinyl and wears a Ramones shirt, the Nachtmann Punk Collection updates the “punk rock” look, fit for Joey or Johnny. Sharply studded in heritage crystal, the Punk Collection is perfectly suited for sipping spirits.
