The tjgriffiths1 Awards

A random selection of current stuff I think is pretty Rad.

Automobile: Tesla

I have to give this one to the biggest game changer that I know of currently, the Tesla Model S. I love this car for so many reasons, and am in total awe of the awesome work of Elon Musk. This car is a game changer. Fact.

Runner Up: Zero Motorcycles

Laptop: Razer Blade

I have been thinking about this for a while, and am slightly disappointed by the monopolisation of good hardware design (Apple). It is for this reason that I want to give this award to Razer. I especially love the design of the new blade, and would love to see other hardware manufacturers follow suit.

Runner Up: Macbook Pro with Retina Display.

Smartphone: Google Nexus 5

I chose this phone based on something much deeper than pure aesthetics. I believe in the power of open sourcing software (Android), as opposed to an entirely closed ecosystem (Apple). I think that the Nexus 5 is a beautiful design and the best option currently for android users.

Runner Up: Jolla

Website: Vimeo Staff Picks

Curation is an art. The staff over at vimeo seemed to have nailed that art. This page is part of my daily routine. I love seeing the incredible creativity of people, and the amazing things people can do with a camera nowadays.

Runner Up: Kickstarter

Company: Hiut Denim

I am always a little jealous of all the awesome stuff that comes from the states, and wonder why that can’t happen in the UK? Enter Hiut Denim. This is undoubtably one of the coolest companies that I have ever experienced, with an incredible back story to boot. I am inspired by their co-founder David Hieatt, and the way he converts vision into reality.

Runner Up: TOMS

App: Timely

Again, this App is chosen for a specific reason. I am constantly dissapointed by the quality of Android apps in comparison to the range available on iOS. Timely is a simple, functional App that proves that beautiful, functional apps are possible on Android. We need to see more.

Runner Up: Google Drive

Software: Adobe

I like adobe for a specific reason. They do one thing well. That ‘thing’ is making technological creativity accessible. Their range of software has enabled millions to begin to show their creativity through the technology that they have available to them.

Runner Up: Google

Person: Jamie Oliver

I’ve never met him. He could be a dick in real life. Regardless of that fact, he has (to a great extent single-handedly) put the importance of good food back on the map. I am in awe of his work, and the passion that he has for what food really means.

Runner Up: Pope Francis

This was fun. You should do one.
