Having been a Personal Assistant to business owners / major shareholders and top executives by profession for more than 20 years. This is my thoughts and sharing about this profession that I felt needed to be shared, since, many have misunderstood the position due to the widely and loosely used of the job title (the job title has been abused) by those who do not understand about the scope of work, requirements and responsibility of a genuine and professional Personal Assistant.

Today, let’s talk about the dedication of a Personal Assistant for a start.

Being a personal assistant is more than just a job; it’s a dedication and commitment to the success of one’s employer. The best personal assistants take pride in their work and view their role as an extension of their boss’s aspirations and goals. They serve as the right-hand person and the face of the organization, and they are dedicated to ensuring that their boss is successful in their endeavors.

A personal assistant’s dedication can be seen in the countless tasks they undertake, no matter how small or big, to ensure that their employer’s day-to-day routine runs smoothly. From scheduling meetings to managing correspondence and negotiating deals, a personal assistant’s attention to detail, and ability to multitask is critical. The best assistants anticipate their employer’s needs and take proactive steps to fulfill them.

The dedication of a personal assistant to their boss also means being available 24/7. Personal assistants understand that their boss’s schedule is demanding, and they must be accessible at all times, even during off-hours. They are punctual, reliable, and always maintain a positive attitude, even in the face of challenging situations.

In addition to being dedicated to their individual performance, the best personal assistants are also dedicated to their team’s success. They understand that they are part of a larger organization, and they work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals. They are strong communicators and possess excellent interpersonal skills, which enable them to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

In conclusion, personal assistants are a unique breed of professionals who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring their boss’s success. They are passionate, detail-oriented individuals who work tirelessly to ensure that their boss’s day-to-day routine runs smoothly. They commit themselves to being available whenever they are needed, and they never shy away from taking on new challenges. The best personal assistants are essential contributors to the organization’s overall success, and their dedication to their employer sets them apart as some of the most valuable team members in any organization.

Those who are professional Personal Assistants, I believe you could relate to the above and those that who wanted to pursue this path, be prepared on your level of commitment and dedication.
