People who attended the Digital Marketing Conference can relate to this title. And yes, this was the presentation done by our Digital Marketing SUPERHERO Deepak from https://digitaldeepak.com. So there is a reason for choosing this title for my Internship Blog post. Some people talk the talk, while some walk the walk. But only very few people walk the talk and Deepak is one of them. He knows the science of persuasion and knows how to Influence People with the power of words. He made me say “YES” for this Internship program without any second thought. Not everyone can do this, right?

The Digital Marketing Avengers of India:

I have been following Deepak for a long time and have always admired his dedication and passion for Digital Marketing. I guess it was at the start of 2019. The top Digital Marketers from India assembled and formed a Digital Marketing AVENGERS team. Is this the End Game we were waiting for? And the outcome was to take the Digital Game in India to the next level. Wowwww!! He sent an email about the DMC Chennai event. Again he made me say “YES” immediately. I made the payment right away and was pretty much excited to meet him in person. I felt like a kid waiting for a present from Santa :)

The Big Announcement:

One beautiful day, I was browsing the “Learn Digital Marketing” group and got a notification from Deepak. It’s about the Internship program. I was like, “Is this even real? Wowwww!” So enough of daydreaming, and I pinched myself. HOLY DUCK! It’s real news, and I was not dreaming. I was feeling surprised, as well as anxious. It seems he could not stop giving gifts. So you know what my reply would be “HELL YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

I applied for the program and got approved within a few days. Life can’t get any better.

What would an Avengers team be without our Superhero?

Finally, the Conference day came. I was waiting to meet our SUPERHERO. It would be best if you had been there. It’s tough to describe my experience in words. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well that day — feeling dizzy and was having a severe headache. Almost fed up and about to collapse. I always have a habit of saving quotes on my mobile and looking at them whenever I feel demotivated. The below quote is the one that helped me to focus on the teachings and divert my mind.

“Obstacles are designed to make you stronger, and only the weak avoid them.”

I took my tablets and then meditated for a few mins (Note: I did not sleep, haha..). I tried to channelize all my energy and focus on the opportunities presented by the GURUS on stage. Yess! I almost did it.

Time for a commercial break:

Then we had a short break in mid of the conference. I went out to have a cup of tea to relax. To my surprise, Deepak crossed me, and I was looking at him in shock. I wanted to go ahead and talk with him. But I felt like I was about to get a panic attack lol. My mind said, “Just do it, man!”. And yeah, I went n met him, introduced myself and took a pic. I made it finally!! Wow! One of the significant accomplishments in the last year. People started to surround him, and so I left the place. I still could feel that Adrenaline rush. I had a look at the pic, but I didn’t look good. It was such a precious moment, right. I want to share it all over my social media pages, but to my disappointment, I didn’t feel confident in that pic. Again, I went to Deepak and told him the same. He laughed and took my mobile, and he clicked a selfie. I could not come out of the shock. He handed over the phone to me, and my hands were trembling. I dropped the phone as I was in an anxious state filled with excitement. He took my phone from the floor, gave it to me and asked me “Sorry” for no reason at all. Such a humble person he is! What else you can expect from a person whom you admire a lot. This meeting made my day, and he gave me DigitalDeepak stickers as a gift.

The First Person on the Moon:

Do you want to know who got to know about the pricing structure of the Internship program before everyone else? It’s me :) I was ready to pay him on the conference day and reserve my spot immediately. But he revealed the pricing structure and asked me to keep it as a secret until the official launch day of the program. He assured me that I would be able to join on the launch day for sure, and so no need to reserve my seat that day. I felt like Neil Armstrong, who landed first on the moon. This small incident may not be exciting for everyone. But this means everything to me. Again he made me say, “YESS.” What else option do I have? ;)

The rest is history. I joined the Internship program, and I am here now. I have shared enough personal things already and don’t wish to go overboard. Let me share my learning from Class 1 of the internship program.

A new beginning:

The class started at 9 PM sharp. It’s one of the power-packed sessions I have ever attended. He delivered the content in such a way that it is effortless for beginners to understand. I will try to graphically explain few important key points from the session.

Few students who registered for the session did not show up, and so we waited for five more minutes to start. Deepak created a poll to understand our level of Expertise in Digital marketing. The results are as follows:

Deepak was pretty much excited like me since this is a new experience for both. His only goal is to provide the most value out of the program. He was always open to feedback and suggestions during the entire session.

Here are essential points to consider for the Interns:

• Points for attendance. So please try to be punctual
• Take a notebook and pen and keep it with you for note taking.
• Every class will have theory and practical part.
• Assignment will be given at the end of the class.
• Form for submitting the assignment will be shared.
• Submit the assignment before the deadline. Else it will lapse.
• Payment will be done within 48 hours of assignment approval and
rating.
• Assignments will be scored on a scale of 1–100 by a team of evaluators.
• Webinar will be recorded and you can watch it again.
• Best students will get to work on live projects.

Now, I will summarize important learning from the session.

Finding the Gold:

The very first topic is about finding gold. Not only the topic, but the content is also pure gold. It is about finding where the market opportunity is available. The key learning from this is, we need to see where the market opportunity is available and then compete. The best way is to find existing market needs and create products, services based on that. Many people try to create products without any research and then use marketing to sell them. This is not a recommended idea to go for.

Once we have done the market research correctly, the customers will reach out to us. We don’t need to sell our products vigorously. The best example would be Deepak himself. I always say “YES” to all the products and services of Deepak without thinking twice. This is because he is a leader in his niche and has established authority.

The only problem we have is our Mindset. We always think that there are no opportunities. But I’m afraid that’s not right. We still have new needs and solutions, and this cycle will continue.

The Ever-Expanding market:

The Market needs always expand because solutions to needs give rise to new demands. For example: When you buy a new mobile, you will need to buy a scratch guard, phone case, so and so.

There is an infinite number of niches available. A niche means a small segment of the Market has needs, and we will need to create a solution to solve the need.

Key points learned in this module:

How to identify market needs?

How to expand our business by identifying new needs? It is not only about selling existing products but creating new products as well. This way, you can create multiple revenue channels.

A little bit about global economics:

There is always a confusion that India has fewer opportunities compared to others. But my mindset changed after Deepak highlighted us a few vital statistics.

Here are they:

• The economy of a country goes up when the average age of the country goes up. People spend more.

• The economy goes down when the average age goes up above 50; household spending goes down.

• Debt creates money.

• The deflation of the money supply happens when people start repaying debt.

• Don’t worry about the recession. People will always pay money for value.

• During the recession, strong companies survive, weak companies fail.

Please understand that Recursion is like a disease. Weak players will start dying, and strong players will survive. It is like a cleansing process. Our business will never die if provide great quality services at a competitive price.

Key Basic Skill — Communication:

Communication is not always about speaking alone. It includes listening, as well. Looking to peoples need and understand what they want. Only then you will be able to create products that cater to the needs of your audience. The person who earns more money is the one who solves peoples needs. He understands what his audience wants and creates a product or service based on that. The key learning from this module is Communication is the vital skill to learn.

The amount of money we make is directly proportional to the strength of our Communication. Digital marketing is more about Marketing than Digital. Digital is just a medium of Communication. It tells us clearly that we need to become a marketing expert first and then a digital marketing expert. We will need to know how to communicate and what to communicate to achieve this.

Key learning: How to become a better communicator?

Improving communication can make you a better Marketer.

Deepak created another poll for the students and the results were as follows:

Easy ways recommended by Deepak to master communication:

  • Read a lot (30 minutes a day) — start with simple books and move to complex ones.
  • Listen to podcasts (30 minutes a day)
  • Write a lot, the more you write, the better you can write. (500 words a day).
  • Watch English sitcoms (Office, Seinfeld, Silicon Valley & more).

What is the future of Digital Marketing?

Digital Marketing will never die. It is just a better way of marketing. Not everything can be automated or replaced by Artificial Intelligence. Do you think human to human interaction can be automated? Hell No!! Robot can never listen to what people want nor create a product. Automation can not replace core skills such as communication, sales, copy-writing

Deepak again created two more polls to get a better idea from us. Please find them below:

How Integrated Digital Marketing works?

Content is the foundation of everything. Deepak showed us a unique way of combining Content Marketing, SEO, Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing. He showed us a robust strategy when implemented, will produce effective results. Content is the king and drives the Integrated Digital Marketing

Some of the essential components of integrated Digital Marketing are as follows.

Content

Email

Social Media

Search

Ads

How to select a Niche?

A small segment of a Market is called Niche. Please do not think that there will be no opportunities in a niche market. Niches keep expanding always. Our goal should be to become a Niche-specific leader. For example: Who makes more money? Heart Surgeon or General doctor? Of course, it is a Heart Surgeon because he is a specialist in his Niche. Riches are in the Niches. If you are everything to everyone, then you are nothing to no one. We need to find the gold. Our niche is our gold.

How to do Market Research?

Please find the practical steps below to conduct a market research

  1. Identify opportunities to serve various groups of customers.
  2. Examine the size of the market — how many people have the need.
  3. Determine the best methods to meet the needs of the target markets.
  4. Investigate the competition.
  5. Clarify your unique value proposition.
  6. Conclude if the product is effectively meeting the needs of the customers.
  7. Conclude if your advertising and promotions strategies are effective or not.

How to do Keyword Research?

Deepak showed us how to do Keyword research using various tools such as Adwords Keyword Tool, UberSuggest, Answer the Public, Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, and Search Console. I decided to show you guys about Keyword research with an example but don’t have much time for now. I will add the step by step methods in a few days in this post.

Gosh! I forgot my assignment and have spent a lot of time writing this blog post. I need to start working on that. Oh, wait! This write-up is my assignment, and I guess, haha. Thanks a lot for your time and patience, everyone. Would love to get your feedback on this :)
