An introduction to American Violence

American Violence is as American as apple pie. It is the foundation of what it means to be an American. The domestic acts of terrorism used against our former colonizer Britain are taught to us in grade school and celebrated as patriotic acts. “Give me liberty or give me death!” Is that historic call any different than the mantra of “Get rich or die tryin?” They both symbolize that great American ideology of achieving whatever it is that you want by utilizing the most extreme means one can muster.

I decided to call my book of essays and observations American Violence because it sums up the dichotomy of my American experience. It is my middle ground between the great concept of the land of the free and my reality of surviving in the drug laden violent filled streets of the inner city.

Please join me in my journey into the realm of my America, American Violence.
