PAGE COUNTY, Va. — With wildfires continuing to rage for the second day, fire stations are finding themselves badly in need of monetary donations for supplies and equipment.

As crews battled flames well into the night, stations in Luray, Stanley and Shenandoah were overwhelmed by the generosity of residents who dropped off hot food, Gatorade, snacks and water for exhausted firefighters.

They are all now greatly in need of additional help.

Speaking for the Luray Fire Department crews, Sandra Sours issued this message via Facebook:

At this time, Luray Fire Department has an abundance of snacks, fruit, water, Gatorade and other assorted drinks.

If you are displaced and need something, please stop by and we will try to meet your needs as best we can.

At this time, our greatest need is fuel money and money for replacement equipment such as chain saw chains, radio batteries, and other items. If you check our web page, we have a PayPal account to make monetary donations.

Thank you for all the donations and support we have received so far and for any future donations!

The Luray Fire Department donation link may be found by clicking HERE and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Those who choose to write checks for donations may drop them off at the station, at Cooter’s in Luray or via mail to Luray Fire Department Inc., 1 Firehouse Lane, Luray, VA 22835

The Luray Fire Department (Company 1), the Stanley Fire Department (Company 24) and the Shenandoah Fire Department (Company 70) are 100% volunteer agencies.

Speaking for Stanley Fire Department crews, Aaron Cubbage issued this message via Facebook:

Fuel Needed for Company 24 — Point of Contact: K.L. Painter.

I just visited Company 24, and asked them what they needed. At this time, they are set on food. However, if you would like to donate money for fuel, it would be greatly appreciated. For reference, it takes approximately $150.00 to fill one tanker. Yesterday, our community’s fire trucks ran all day. #PageCountyStrong

The Stanley Fire Department donation page may be found HERE.

Those writing checks for donations may drop them off at the station, at Cooter’s in Luray or via mail to Stanley Fire Department 190 E Main St, Stanley, VA 22851.

A representative for the Shenandoah Fire Department issued this statement:

We are okay with food, water and snacks. If people would like to help donate for crew supplies (such as gas and items needed for equipment), donations may be dropped off at our station drop box, or dropped off at Cooter’s in Luray. Please mark envelopes “Shenandoah Fire Department, Company 70. To donate via Venmo, send donations to @Company70.

As of Tuesday afternoon, affected roads in the county were still closed. Residents, forced to evacuate, eagerly await status updates and word of when they’ll be able to return home.
