In The Crucible, it is obvious to say that looks can be very deceiving. For example, despite all of the rules and bad that Elizabeth has committed, no one seems to believe her for she comes off as a “well mannered” and “polite” girl. This relates to everyday life in our world today because you can easily act one way, but you are a completely different person in different situations. Not everyone can be trusted, people may act a certain way to get what they want. Adding on, first impressions reflect highly on what others will think of you. First impressions tend to affect the way someone may approach you or begin to think of you. For example, “As for Rebecca herself, the general opinion of her character was so high that to explain how anyone dared cry her out for a which-and more, how adults could bring themselves to lay hands on her- we must look to the fields and boundaries of that time.”. This quote from the crucible shows how the opinion that others originally have of someone is hard to change once there mind has already been set on this image of the person. Continuing to relate this to real life, if you were to be rude to someone when you first meet them, then they will continue to think you are rude for that is the impression you have presented to them. This goes the same way for someone who were nice as well. All in all, looks can be deceiving for people can be two faced, and first impressions will always be remembered.
