I recently moved from the Bay Area to Washington DC after working in SV for 40+ yrs. What I notice is that the further I get from the Bay Area the more concern I hear about digitizing the world, from young parents of newborns to senior citizens. I recently posted these two pieces in Medium about the risks of surrendering increasing parts of our lives to four or five companies who are as powerful — and potentially threatening — as any government. Lobster traps are easy to enter and impossible to escape. So before we say goodby to nature and the analog, we should consider the tradeoffs as we approach The Singularity.
