California Water Wells cause Subsidence

NASA/JPL-Caltech

New satellite data shows how the ground is sinking up to 10" in a little under 2 years near California’s Aqueduct due to groundwater pumping. Subsidence is occurring in both the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valley due to the ongoing drought. Hopefully a strong El Nino will give California some much needed relief this winter.
