Improve your search ranking using the following tips
Now that you have built a great website, it is very likely that you want people to find it.
One way to get visitors is to directly distribute the address of your site, and if you only have a handful of nearby connections that need to see your site, this might work.
For the rest of the world, the search of your site will depend on the search through a search engine such as Google, Bing or Yahoo. How can you optimize your site to ensure that you appear as high as possible in the rankings of these search engines?
Start with the basics. Read our Description, Titles and Keywords articles to know how / why to add this information in the pages of your website.
When doing this, keep in mind that the keywords are not chosen at random (this is explained in more detail in the help article Keywords linked above). Just by adding a keyword to your site does not mean that search engines will find it through that keyword. If life were so easy, we would all be rich and we would be retired on our own private islands.
Get a Google Webmaster account. Setting up an account with Google Webmasters is easy, and when you do, you can verify your site, view its ranking and make sure that Google regularly indexes your site. No doubt Google is by far the most important search engine. We show how to set up an account in our Google Webmaster help article.
Pages easy to search: Make the names of your page useful. The name you assign to a page in Weebly appears both in the navigation of the site and in the address (or url) of that page. Search engines consider the words of your address more relevant and, therefore, more important when displaying search results.
Use keywords in your links. Think before you link. Creating links with key phrases or with a descriptive text will be more effective than using phrases like “go here” and “read more” in their links. So:
It is better than this:
Learn how to create a link by going here.
Title of your Content: Search engines see the titles generally more important than the normal text. You can add titles to your site through our “Title” element.
But do not write all your text in a Title as this will make things worse for your page. You cannot cheat seekers like that, or try. Also, if you write everything in a title it will look like you are screaming at all your visitors.
Location — Relevance. If your site is only relevant to people in a specific area, use the content to highlight your location. Create a Google map and point out your location. Also, refer to the physical location on your site when applicable, such as: “Visit our San Francisco exhibit” or “Located in beautiful Nome, Alaska.”
Alternative text c/photos. Add alternative text to an image by clicking on it and using Advanced Option in tools, then enter a brief description of the image. (Note: this only works with an image element, not with the gallery or slide show.) Take a look at our instructions on “How to upload an image” to see more details of this option.
Blog for life . By maintaining a blog on a regular basis, you will be continuously adding new content to your page. This attracts search engines, because like the princes of Bel Air, they like their sites to be renewed. Read our article Create a Blog to learn how to start one with Weebly.
The power of links: The more sites linked to your site (as a general rule), the more interesting Google will see your page. This is digital word of mouth, both for potential visitors and search engines.
Believe it and they will come. There is no quick or magical way to get links to your site, but the effort is worth it, since this is the # 1 factor in the search ranking. The best thing you can do is create interesting content and let people know that they exist.
You can also: Link to your page from your social profiles (Twitter, Facebook). If you have a newsletter by email, file it through your email provider’s website, so that your own newsletter acts as another link to you. If you have a business, put a listing on Yelp, create a Business Facebook Page and add an ad to Google Local.
Know your limits, Keep working. Be realistic with your goals. If you are a florist based in San Francisco, you will not appear first in the search results “flowers” or “Mother’s Day”. However, you could be among the first in “exotic florist San Francisco”.
Focus on what is achievable. Concentrate on your page to appear in the search for your own name. Try to get the attention of bloggers who can write about your business. Encourage visitors to discuss your business in places like Yelp.com.
This is just a place to start. If you want more advice, a quick search on Google about “SEO information” will offer you a large number of articles on the subject. Get going and optimize.
