Tenacity:
This playlist was inspired by the act of never giving up. You see, each of these songs share the message of tenacity, perseverance, and endurance. I feel that listening to them will help with today’s youth.
- “Hall of Fame,” by The Script ft. Will.I.Am (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jukv9Q1eR2g)
This song was chosen because it refers to what it means to have potential in your life. It talks about how you can grow up to become very important people, such as a banker, a firefighter, an accountant, etc.
- “Changes,” by Tupac (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay9BWM8lwOA)
I chose this song because it was written an African-American role model. Tupac was an inspiration for black communities all over the country, and has sparked the organization of various protesting parties, including Black Lives Matter.
- “I Can,” by Nas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTqjThZei7U)
This song was chosen for the following reasons: The artist, Nas, was a member of the Muslim community in the US, he talks about everything black people have been through in the distant past, and he talks about what we’re still going through in the present.
- “Keep Ya Head Up,” by Tupac (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V0cfqqRYSs)
I chose this song for all women in this country. Tupac’s words, in this case, describe the hardships of being a woman and how everyone around you tries to make you less than human. He also explains how much you should build up the confidence to stand against those who try to put you down in today’s society.
