CMD+Ctrl+e activates the ‘Edit all in scope’ which only renames the variable within the current scope. A useful feature to be sure, but is not the same as the ‘Rename…’ refactoring operation that you get from the context menu which searches your entire project for references and usages – even storyboards – and changes them all. There’s no default keyboard shortcut for directly activating the ‘Rename…’ refactor but you can assign one in Xcode’s preferences.
