The New M4 iPad Pro Gives Me Headaches

I can’t find answers to the ever-persistent questions: Upgrade? If yes, to which model? And when?

I spend a fair part of my day in front of my M2 iPad Pro. And I love this device and its accessories. The Magic Keyboard is the best keyboard I’ve ever typed on and the Apple Pencil is a very precise and intuitive input device.

Since the iPad Pro is my main working device, my thoughts are heavily circling around upgrading to one of the impressive new M4 iPad Pro models.

But is it reasonable to upgrade right after the announcement? And if I upgrade, which model should I choose? Questions over questions to which I have to find an answer.

But one thing at a time. Let me start with some thoughts on…

What convinced me about the new devices

Surprisingly, all of the major rumors came true. Even mark Gurman’s big last-moment announcement of the M4 processor. I was really surprised that Apple also brought the nanotextured glass to the iPad. Admittedly, this was a rumor that I dismissed as a figment of imagination and paid no attention to — unjustifiably, as it has now turned out. I digress, back to the topic.
