Yeah, the A-10 is just the wrong weapon system for killing ships, i’d argue it would do well in a Falklands esc combat scenario, destroying icolated and vulnerable EW vessels on radar picket duty, but then agian any jet with a 70s weapons targeting system could do that.

Against an modern vessel, let alone a carrier fleet it would no chance. The only way to kill a modern carrier fleet is by using swarm tactics to overwhelm CIWS and SAM, knowing the fleet out sees you, out guns you and is has remarkably better ECM.

Deploying standoff balistic ASWs whilst burning sophicicated ECM then getting out low and fast is the only way to do it. Even this will result in high losses as a given, for both your missiles and aircraft. Yeah the A-10 would suck at this job.
