How to Be a Writer

As a counterpoint to this excellent piece, which is generally good advice, I would like to share a link.
As a born procrastinator and journalist, who has limitless unfinished writing projects to his name, I enjoyed a New Yorker piece on Katherine Anne Porter, who published her first novel at 71, after a lifetime of literary celebrity. The criticism (in the article and from Truman Capote who is quoted in it) is probably a bit unfair, as she also published three short story collections — so arguably wrote a lot. Yet many writers can be far from prolific in the eyes of others.
